All eyes are on Apple today with the launch of the iPhone 3G, but that doesn't mean the rest of the world stopped moving. Microsoft cut the price of the Xbox 360 pro model from $350 down to $300 — not a big jump, but still another dip for the oft-slashed-price of the console. The announcement battles on two fronts, facing off with Apple on its big day, and turning the consumer eye toward the Playstation 3, which did not enjoy a price reduction.
There's even a bit of Microsoft inside the iPhone. One of the new and highly regarded apps, BoxOffice, was made by Cyrus Najmabadi (which you should check out whenever you can get iTunes working with your new iPhone), a Microsoft staffer. Probably nothing nefarious here — he didn't develop BoxOffice while flying Microsoft's flag — but still a little distracting, yes? So Microsoft hopes.
