New Motorola Cordless Phones Claim Green Points

Motorola released a couple of new cordless phones, the D10 and the D11, claiming green points for both models. According to the company, both phones are made of 20 percent recycled material, although Motorola didn't disclose what parts of the phones were actually manufactured from recycled matter.

Besides its build, Motorola says the phones' software also has an eco-friendly feature in the form of a special "eco mode" setting. When in use, the electricity consumed by the phone is adjusted depending on your proximity with the base. I'm guessing the nearer you are, the less electricity is allocated for use and vice versa. Unfortunately, no information on the actual disparity in electric consumption was mentioned, but the eco mode can supposedly extend the handset's talk time, depending on use.
